Senior Technical Artist
Fast Travel Games is a VR game developer and publisher based in Stockholm, Sweden, founded by industry veterans, creating games set in beautiful, rich and immersive worlds, where great narratives have a natural home. We have developed titles such as Apex Construct, Wraith the Oblivion - Afterlife, Ghost Signal, Vampire the Masquerade - Justice and currently have Mannequin + an Unannounced Project in development for the major VR platforms.
We are now looking for a Sr Technical Artist to strengthen our development team.
Your role and challenge would be to streamline our art production processes, ensuring that our games not only look stunning but also perform flawlessly across a spectrum of devices. You'll develop materials, tools and systems that empower our artists and developers to create their best work.
As a Sr Technical Artist at Fast Travel Games you will work closely with other Technical artists and Art Directors to maintain as well as push the style and quality of our games. If this sounds interesting, you might be just what we are looking for!
Who you are:
- You have worked on several titles as a Tech Artist, and have experienced all the stages of production, from concept phase to final release.
- You have strong communication skills and both receive and give feedback well.
- You are fluent in written and spoken English.
- You have a strong passion for gaming.
- You have a portfolio that demonstrates and highlights your best work in games.
What you’ll do
- Innovate and refine workflows and pipelines in collaboration with the art team, focusing on simplicity and efficiency.
- Ensure visual scalability across various devices, aiming for minimal manual intervention while maintaining high-quality visuals for both high-end and low-end platforms.
- Design, develop, and manage user-friendly tools and systems in Unreal Engine utilizing Blueprints, Geometry Script, and preferable Angelscript to streamline the development process.
- Utilize performance analysis tools such as RenderDoc and Unreal Insights effectively, with a solid understanding of rendering principles to optimize performance.
- Providing technical oversight, direction, and mentorship to the team.
- Technical setup, integration, troubleshooting and fixing bugs.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams, ensuring skills and insights are effectively disseminated.
- Collaborate with our VFX-artists to create stunning, optimized visuals that can scale depending on device.
Skills
- Knowledge of game development in Unreal Engine.
- Expertise in creating materials that are performance-oriented, catering to our scalability and efficiency requirements.
- Clear understanding of modular modeling, procedural modeling and procedural texture generation.
Bonus skills:
- Previous experience from working in the VR games industry.
- Understanding in lighting, shading and post processing effects.
- Proficiency in Blender, along with knowledge of Python and Geometry nodes to develop innovative tools and dynamic workflows for artists
- Proficient (enough) in any image editing software, capable of creating textures for VFX and material use.
This role is local in Stockholm, currently a hybrid model of attendance in office and working from home is applied.
